HiGS Warriors and Veterans Issues

1/30/2010

The Warriors and Veterans HiGS Health History Program is designed to help each of our nation’s warriors and veterans create and control his or her own personal and family health history. Additionally, it enables warriors and veterans to do interactive self-testing prior to obtaining counseling or healthcare, or just to see how they are doing without anyone else having knowledge of their personal information.

The HiGS Warriors and Veterans Issues category includes 22 self-tests - HiGS Assessments and Screenings - in 3 main areas:

  • Major Physical Traumas of War
  • Major Environmental Illnesses of Wars
  • Emotional Miseries of War

Also included in the HiGS Warriors and Veterans Issues are references to other categories in the HiGS which may be of particular interest to warriors and veterans such as: alcohol drinking, anxiety disorders including post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), dental, depression and mood disorders, communicable, infectious and bacterial diseases, neuropsychology, psychological issues, specific physical issues, the senses (vision, hearing, taste and smell, and touch sensitivity), sleep disturbances, and substance abuse.
