History Tool in China Cancer Prevention Program

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - July 29, 2009 - Inner Reach, developer of the innovative Person-Authenticated E-Health History Tool HiGS (Health Information Gathering System) has entered into an agreement with the Lanzhou University Second Hospital in Gansu Province China. The hospital’s Cancer Prevention Program will incorporate the personal health history toolset of HiGS in both research and clinical settings in the China-Gansu Cancer Prevention Program. Data collected in China will be compared with similar data collected by using the 'HiGS for Researchers' product in the United States to identify trends and differences.

"This is an exciting opportunity for the incorporation of the HiGS health history data collection capability. It will provide the physicians and researchers a consistent and reliable health history template throughout the program. It will also foster continued cooperation between the medical communities of the United States and China" said Constance Y. Fitzpatrick, Ph.D., R.N., Inner Reach CEO and Health Director. In China, the program will be led by You Cheng Zhang, M.D., Ph.D., Director of General Surgery at the Lanzhou University Second Hospital. Dr Zhang explained, "The goal is to use HiGS in both the clinical and research settings, beginning with screening for breast cancer in women and then adding other cancers such as cancer of the liver, stomach, colon, pancreas, and thyroid. Using HiGS, we want to identify the potential for cancer risk in people without cancer and the recurrence risk in people who had cancer but are in remission. We also want to compare breast cancer in the United States with China-Gansu."

To further underline the program’s extent, the State of Oklahoma (home of Inner Reach) and Gansu Province have a Sister State relationship. In recent years, governors and other dignitaries of Gansu have visited Oklahoma City. Physicians from the Lanzhou University Second Hospital have spent up to six months at Oklahoma University Medical Health Center and Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, studying surgery, oncology, and other specialties.
