Pre-Imaging and X-Ray Inquiry Assessment has been added to the Inner Reach Health Information Gathering System - HiGS. The HiGS Pre-Imaging and X-Ray inquiry Assessment and Screening inquires about reactions and potential issues that are good to know about before having x-rays and imaging procedures. This assessment evaluates for these issues, including areas such as contraindications for having a procedure performed; rule out allergies; contrasting agents reactions; pregnancy; metal object or implants present in the body; drug patches that include metal-containing products, etc. Also expored are handicap, pain, joint, or motion problems. Psychological areas are also considered such as being claustrophobic (fear of small, tight, and closed spaces) and anxiety about having an upcoming x-ray or imaging procedure. Evaluating for these areas can be very helpful before having any imaging procedure since certain situations may mean the procedure will be delayed or postponed until another day for various reasons. Knowing about any of these issues ahead of time may save time and money, and of course, unnecessary suffering.
